Image processing and deletion

This page describes what happens to your selfies and generated headshots from upload through automatic deletion.

1. Upload and preparation

Your browser may resize a photo before upload. The upload is sent directly to private storage through a short-lived, single-purpose authorization. Lumashots verifies the file type and dimensions, decodes the image, applies orientation, removes embedded metadata such as EXIF/GPS information, and creates a sanitized JPEG used for generation. Rejected raw files are removed through the rejection and cleanup process.

2. Quality feedback

Lumashots performs basic technical checks for properties such as resolution, lighting, and sharpness. These checks help you choose usable inputs; they are not facial recognition, identity verification, or an assessment of attractiveness, health, ethnicity, or personality.

3. Portrait generation

The accepted selfies and your selected style instructions are submitted to Google's paid Gemini API to produce a portrait. Lumashots does not train a custom model, create a reusable facial-recognition template, or use your images to train a Lumashots model. Google states that prompts, images, and responses submitted to paid Gemini services are not used to improve its products; limited logging may occur for abuse monitoring and legal compliance.

4. Output processing and access

  • The provider output is decoded and converted into a validated 3:4 JPEG.
  • A reduced-resolution watermarked derivative is created for a free preview.
  • The unwatermarked full-resolution file remains private and requires an active paid release authorization.
  • Display and download links are short-lived bearer links issued only after an ownership and entitlement check.
  • The temporary raw provider output is removed after successful asset processing.

5. Automatic retention periods

  • Unfinished upload attempts: 24 hours.
  • Accepted source selfies: seven days after verification.
  • Watermarked previews: 14 days after generation.
  • Paid full-resolution files: 30 days after generation.

Expiry first blocks further access. Scheduled cleanup then removes the private storage object and records its deletion. Operational failures may cause a short delay between expiry and physical deletion, and cleanup is retried.

6. Early deletion requests

You may request early deletion at support@lumashots.com. Deleting inputs or outputs can make an active flow, preview, or download unavailable. We may retain minimized transaction, fraud-prevention, or legal records that do not contain the image files themselves.
